Project: Brown Memorial Bench

Inspired by the geometry and symbolism of the pinecone, this commemorative bench honors the Brown family’s generational story with elegance and quiet playfulness.
Rather than marking memory with a traditional headstone, the bench offers a more unexpected and welcoming gesture—an invitation to rest, reflect, and connect.

Crafted from plasma-cut steel and glass fiber–reinforced concrete tiles, the piece balances structural integrity with visual lightness. The layered form echoes the overlapping scales of a pinecone, each one shaped with intention. Most of the concrete scales include a recessed seat for an individual plaque, allowing family names to be held within the design itself.

The result is a sculptural tribute—whimsical yet enduring—that celebrates legacy through material, form, and shared presence.
